The AMSOIL World Championship Snowmobile Derby begins its 45th year of racing this Thursday in Eagle River, Wisc. The worlds top pro oval ice racers will compete for the title of AMSOIL World Champion on Sunday.

Three-time winner PJ Wanderscheid of the AMSOIL/Arctic Cat team will be looking for his record setting fourth championship ring this year. Wanderscheid and his crew have been working tirelessly for the past month to get his sled ready for the Derby. Last weekend, the team traveled to Plymouth, Wis. for a USSA event. Wanderscheid finished sixth in the Pro 600 class and third in the Champ 440 final.

"Things are starting to come together," said Wanderscheid.

The AMSOIL Eagle River Derby Track hosted more than 600 vintage sleds last weekend in 37 classes. The AMSOIL Eagle River Snowmobile Derby begins Thursday morning with time trials beginning at 9:00 a.m. Racing will commence with the AMSOIL World Championship race at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.

This year's event will also go live on the internet thanks to WOODY's. The entire slate of racing for Saturday and Sunday will be online. Friday afternoon the cameras will be set up so you can sample test, at no charge. Go to:http://www.derbytrack.com/DTVideoFeed/ to watch the racing.
