National Underway, Team AMSOIL Advances

Greetings from the snow-filled track at Spirit Mountain for the season opening AMSOIL Duluth National. The WPSA and Spirit Mountain worked with the snow and made a workable track for the season opener.

Team AMSOIL had a strong day of racing. Running the three qualifying rounds in the Pro Stock class, D.J Eckstrom and Shaun Crapo proved they will be contenders this season on the WPSA circuit. Crapo started the day by winning his first qualifier. He was also able to win his third qualifying heat, but a bobble in his second heat put him off the track and into the Last Chance Qualifier.

Eckstrom also ran well in his heats. He took home a pair of seconds in his first two qualifiers, and was pushing for a third straight second place finish in the third heat when another rider got loose and landed on his right side. Eckstrom also had to move to the LCQ, where he was able to win the race and advance to Saturday morning's final. Crapo also had a strong ride in the LCQ, finishing third and advancing to the final.

The Pro Stock final is scheduled to run at 10:00 am on Saturday. The afternoon will be filled with the Pro Open qualifiers and final.
