AMSOIL Duluth National Pro Open

Gremlins may be the best word to use this weekend in the AMSOIL/Scheuring Speed Sports Pro Open mod motors. Both DJ Eckstrom and Shaun Crapo found troubles in their mod sleds during Saturday's qualifying. The problem was worked on all night by the Scheuring crew to get them ready for Sunday's Winter X Games qualifying.

In the Pro Stock class, both Shuan and DJ had to start from the back row, but a good start got them in position to contend for top ten finishes. Crapo was able to grab a tenth and DJ was right behind him in 11th.

In the Pro Open qualifying, Shaun finished second in his first heat race and then picked up a pair of fifth place finishes. DJ took a sixth, fifth and engine problems left him last in the third heat. Both drivers went to the LCQ, but only Shaun was able to advance to the final, again starting in the back row. A good start pushed him to mid pack, and he was able to hold position, finishing in 11th and picking up valuable points fro the season points race.

On Sunday morning, the guys both began the qualifying for the Winter X games. The WPSA is running three qualifying rounds with nine heats in each round. That's 27 races of qualifying and some great action. Again, DJ found trouble with his sled while running in second during his first round action. Shaun had the bugs worked out and finished with a win in his heat. Currently, both riders are lining up for the second round and we'll be back with some more information after the race.

Also, AMSOIL Eagle River World Champion PJ Wanderscheid is in Duluth this weekend signing autographs. His sled is getting a lot of attention at the AMSOIL booth and he will be signing more autographs this afternoon.

We would like to thank the Powersports Tour for the attached photos.

See you at the races,
