Grave Digger may have been the fastest qualifier for the second round of action at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif., but it was all John Zimmer's driving of the AMSOIL Shock Therapy at the end of the night that took home the win.
In the first round, AMSOIL Shock Therapy defeated Andrew Peckham behind the wheel of Tropical Thunder. Zimmer advanced the AMSOIL Shock Therapy truck past round two by defeating Frank Krmel in Donkey Kong in a wild, fast paced run. Going into the semi-finals strong, it was obviously not the right not for the Air Force Afterburner as AMSOIL Shock Therapy took the win, advancing into the Monster Jam finals.
Zimmer and Shocker, driven by Pat Gerber, went went head to head in the finals, tire deep in mud. The rain caused havoc for both trucks, but Zimmer nailed the throttle and stayed focus on giving him everything he needed to defeat Shocker and take home the Monster Jam racing win.
Freestyle recap ended with AMSOIL Shock Therapy earning second after a crowd cheer off gave Donkey Kong the win.
Sudden Impact Racing, which owns and operates the Shock Therapy truck, will compete in the New Orleans Monster Jam event this weekend at the Superdome.
Until then, we'll see you at the races.
