AMSOIL Riders Qualify For AMSOIL World Championship

Despite temperatures near -17 before the wind chill factored in, three time AMSOIL World Champion PJ Wanderscheid qualified tenth in the Pro Champ 440 class.

The AMSOIL rider clocked in a 37.335 second lap time this morning. Defending champion Brian Bewcyk was the top qualifier at 35.546. Second place through 11th were all less than a second apart. AMSOIL rider Brad Bettin stopped the dial at 36.858, good for seventh fastest.

The top 16 riders from today's qualifying will take part in the Friday Night Thunder portion of the AMSOIL World Championship. The winner of that race will take hold of the pole position for Sunday's World Championship race.

A full day of racing gets underway tomorrow morning at 9:30, including qualifying for the Pro 600 classes which will showcase top pro rider Shaun Crapo, who is using Eagle River as a final test before next weeks Winter X Games. Crapo's teammate, Ryan Carey will also race this weekend in the Pro class.

Friday Night Thunder starts at 6:00 p.m. You can watch all of the action this weekend on a Pay Per View basis at the Derby Track website.

Until then, we'll see you at the races.
