Naples, Fla. ~ The end is near for the 2008 ChampBoat series and AMSOIL's Terry Rinker is close to taking home his fourth championship in the past six years.
Rinker finished second at the last ChampBoat race in Algonac, Mich., putting him 49 points in front of Shaun Torrente for the overall lead. With just one round of racing left on the schedule, (this weekend in Naples, Fla.), Rinker is excited about bringing the title back to AMSOIL.
"We feel strongly that our season is gotten better better and better with each race,” said Rinker. “We have a win in St. Louis and four straight podiums and we believe that consistency is going to win you titles. However, we are not letting up one bit as we go for our second win of the season and we are really excited to finally be racing again in our home state of Florida.”
Rinker's older brother, Randy, joins him on the AMSOIL sponsored team and in the top ten at seventh in the drivers points standings.
Along with the F1 ChampBoat class, the Champ2 championship will also be wrapping up there season in Naples this weekend where a large field of F2 boats are expected. Qualifying heats start on Saturday, with a full day of racing scheduled for Sunday.
AMSOIL is the Official Oil of the ChampBoat Series, which will begin airing on SPEED in Decemeber.
