While things are heating up in the AMA Outdoor National motocross series, the weather was much cooler as the circuit headed for Washougal, Wash. last weekend.
One rider who is not cooling off is Team AMSOIL rider Kevin Windham. The veteran star has been pushing his Honday CRF 450 to the podium the past few weeks and Washougal was no different. In the first moto, K-Dub started strong, coming out of the first turn in second. He would fight the front of the pack in a back and forth battle, finally ending up in sixth. Things went his way in the second moto, getting out front early. The Louisianna rider rode strong, riding second for much of the race. A misread on the final lap cost Windham a position as he dropped back to third. For the weekend, Windham finished fourth overall and currently sits seventh in the season points race.
In the Lites class, Josh Grant rebounded from his sixth place, moto-one finish with a top-five, fourth in moto 2. Grant's ten points was good enough for fourth overall and helped distance himself for the third place, overall battle he is having with Jason Lawrence. Grant leads Lawrence by 30 points. Teammate Jake Weimer also finsihed the weekend strong. After finishing 13th in moto 1, Weimer rebounded with an eighth for an eighth overall.

AMSOIL, the exclusive Official Oil of the AMA Outdoor Nationals, will welcome the circuit back to the Midwest in two weeks. The series returns to Millville, Minn. for the ninth round of racing. This week, you can catch Windham and Grant competing in ESPN's X Games.
Until then, we'll see you at the races,
Jeremy Meyer
AMSOIL Racing Coordinator
