Tonight’s AMSOIL Late Model Series opener will be postponed until mid-summer after heavy rains caused less than ideal racing conditions at the Superior Speedway.
The six-race series was set to return tonight after a one-year hiatus. The Superior Speedway promoters assessed the track and pit conditions as well as the rainy forecast and decided that the ½ mile oval was not suitable for racing.
“We were all hoping to catch a break in the weather,” said Jeremy Meyer, AMSOIL Racing Coordinator. “but the heavy rain and wind of the lake are too much to overcome. AMSOIL is working with the track on a rain date for the end of June or beginning of July. The Speedway will make that final decision tonight so we’ll be starting the series in Hibbing on June 5.”
