AMSOIL Derby Track Ready For Snocross

Eagle River, Wis.
While the big event held each year at the AMSOIL Eagle River Derby Track is the AMSOIL World Championship Snowmobile Derby, this weekend marks a return of snocross to the northern Wisconsin city.

It's early Friday morning and the crew is making what has to be considered one of the largest snocross tracks in history. The circuit engulfs the 1/2-mile ice oval, has the full front stretch set up as a straight away, and finishes with two giant switchbacks. Amazing how much snow is on this track.

Of course, this IS Eagle River and that means the weather is cold. The wind is blowing very steadily from the East, probably around 20-25 mph.

DJ Eckstrom and Shaun Crapo are looking to move up in the points standings. Both riders are in the top ten in at least one of the classes. Eckstrom is riding well after finishing second last weekend in the Pro Stock class in Valcourt, Quebec.

This is a double national, so both riders could make up significant ground this weekend. With another double national next weekend in Shakopee, Minn., these next two weekends are crucial to the end of the year points race.
We'll be bringing you live updates all weekend long, so, until then, see you at the races.
